Abstract
Module 4 Discussion: Professional Thieves Chapter 12 A burglar is a person that engages in burglary which involves illegal entry into a building or a house and stealing of things from such areas. Though defined through a variety of qualities, a good burglar must express defined technical competence and personal integrity (Siegel, 2015). Technical competence and personal integrity ensures the burglar has defined knowledge and abilities required in this line of crime (Vandeviver, Van Daele, & Vander Beken, 2015). For these reasons, these qualities enable these burglars to maintain high levels of skills while breaking and gaining access into the target areas. It also open that these qualities enable these burglars to steal from these areas and escape without trace or even without any chances of getting into the hands of the police/law enforcers. Other characteristics of goon burglars include knowledge in burglary, financial success and ability to avoid prison. For one to become a successful /good burglar, the person must express defined abilities in team work which enable them to enjoy financial success status. For instance, such a burglar being able to team up with potential gangs and outside market buyers that enhance the supply of the stolen materials without causing any signs of a black market. It is through such abilities that such burglars becomes financially successful and avoid chances of getting into the prison. It is also worth to team up with potential gang to be able to choose a trustworthy target that pays off upon successful entry. Since most successful burglars have inside connections with the target areas, they use the least of time to access their target areas as well as dispose the stolen thinks thanks to their defined abilities in teamwork. Occasional criminals are those that engage in crimes by opportunity although one can argue that they too have innate qualities that predispose them to criminality. On the other hand, professional criminals are those that engage in crime as a full-time job thus have adopted crime as a profession and a source of their income. Unlike professional criminals that plans their crime days/events very systematically, occasional criminals who in most cases scholar aged youths do not plan their day events around crime (HILL, 2005). On the contrary, exposures to spontaneous inducements/influencers lead them to embracing the crime opportunities which risks them being caught thus becoming violent in the long-run.
