Abstract

Third Essay: Civil Rights The United States of America has a long history of white supremacy. Ever since time immemorial, white supremacy grounded on masculinity dominated the American nation in all forms of governance. The minority that included people of color and women of all types remained as inferior characters deserving nothing more than strict control from the dominating white male figures. Unfortunately, such a perception limited these inferior categorized citizens' contributions to society most especially regarding democracy. It is all about the manipulation of these minorities and the selfishness of the whites that took the United States a long time to extend civil rights to people of color and women. Therefore, one can confirm that civil rights enable people to feel valued and respected as they can air their opinions and interest through voting. It is through voting rights limitations that African Americans especially from the south felt discriminated and after enduring so much agony attributed to unequal treatment from the white, the Selma civil rights movement came as a rescue. A good example is that civil rights led to the signing of the voting rights Act of 1965 into law thus guaranteeing all minorities equal social opportunities. According to Krutz & Waskiewicz (2021), civil rights are important as they allow all to vote as they please, enhance equality in...
