Abstract

Life-threatening illnesses like non-healing sacral ulcers expose the patients to worry about their pain rather than their ending lives. For this reason, the need to act beyond the medication approach in relieving the patients’ pain is essential. Some of the major non-pharmacological interventions in relieving Mrs. Hernandez condition may include acupuncture which enhances the relaxation of and comfort of the patient thus forgets the pain in a few. Gentle massage may also offer pain relief, among other symptoms that might be disturbing on Mrs. Hernandez. Pet therapy proves essential as it can make the patient concentrate more on soothing the pet fur than thinking of the pain, which enhance pain relief in a great manner. Gel packs can offer relaxation on Mrs. Hernandez since ulcers proves so painful thus, relaxing the patients’ nerves with cold or warm packs may work wonders on her (Mazlinda et al., 2018). Relaxation techniques relieve' anxiety which proves essential for Mrs. Hernandez, whose urge to heal or die might be higher. The patient has a history of long hours on TV, making her inactive. For this reason, mobility problem might prove a potential sign of complication to Mrs. Hernandez. If she becomes unable to move her limbs and relieve the pressure on her skin, it will prove a killer sign on her. Other major complications may include cellulitis, which comes with infection of the skin and connected tissues, bone and joint infection, which may define septic arthritis on Mrs. Hernandez, damaging cartilage and tissues in a great manner. Sepsis is another potential sign of complication on the patient's condition, worsening her current condition (Dinh et al., 2019).
