From Small-Town Roots to Criminal Justice Crusader: The Inspiring Story of Prosecutor Kelly Siegler

Despite the odds of living in a small town like [City, State] and being raised in a humble background, Kelly still pursued her dreams and made a career in law enforcement. Her inspiration is the concept of helping people depending on her to seek justice during trial. In 2008, she came up with the proposal about ‘cold justice’ which was later made possible by Dick Wolf who suggested it to TNT. Cold justice is a reality crime series uncovering murder cases that have existed for a very long time exclusive of proper response. Kelly joined forces with Yolanda McClary who examines crime scenes and took their audience through the steps of identifying a cold case and the approach of obtaining evidence. The show is important as it provides a platform for unmasking murderers who are walking free and ensures closure to the family of the deceased and local officers. She is an inspiration to young girls brought up from humble backgrounds in small towns. 2 Jeanine Pirro is an American judge whose life revolves around making decisions derived from facts and helping people standing trial understand themselves better. In her career, she has struggled to ensure justice for women since to her; they are the most vulnerable and unvoiced crime victims. To achieve this, she campaigned for altering the name of criminal justice system to ‘victims’ justice system’ and towards the end of 1970; she already founded Domestic Violence Unit. She is strongly against the dismissal of the basic rules of the criminal justice system especially in sex crimes which is underreported due to the victim’s horror of being judged or targeted by the perpetrator. This is illustrated from the case of Martha Maccallum where she stressed that truth or justice should not be altered because of certain factors such as politics. She stands for the truth and absolute respect towards the justice system when making important decisions that can transform an individuals’ life. 3 Tom Mesereau is a defence attorney whose opinion is based on the innocence, facts, fairness and equality not considering racial background and economic capability of an individual. This principle is well illustrated from when he was the defence attorney for pop star, Michael Jackson. His arguments were not based on race neither was he inspired by the financial capacity of his client since he had rejected working for him at first request.
