Texas Poised for Post-Pandemic Comeback: Abbotts 2021 State of the State Address

Abstract

Governor Abbott Speech on the State of the State 2021 In his speech on February 1st 2021, Mr Abbott addressed several issues that seem promising after the Corona Virus Pandemic blow. Among the significant issues of concern in his remarks are education, technology, healthcare, recoveries from Covid-19, and entrepreneurship. Paying particular attention to job creation, Abbott argued that “In December alone, Texas added more than 64,000 new jobs (03:29). " Such an argument is a clear indication that though the pandemic has been a massive blow to the economy, hopes of recovery are at their highest pointing Texas as a potential state to enhance it. "Students are returning to schools and more vaccinations and increased immunity indicating normalcy return at Texas (03: 29)." Based on such arguments, one can point out that Texas is moving forward and ready to regain its glory in its definition as the economic engine of America. Abbott defines Texans as heroes whose fight towards the pandemic has expressed their selflessness and concern for their neighbors and entire America as a whole. Citing an example of the selfless acts, Abbott states "Think of our nurses and doctors, the food servers, hospital janitors, truck drivers, grocery clerks among others whose services touched a vast populace in an excellent manner (04:33). Abbott mentioned Eliana Gill from Ascension Seton health centre in Austin as a nurse who volunteered to answer the pandemic's call with her life to ensure safety for the fellow Americans.
