Abstract
Leadership Interview Report: Pam Butts I felt privileged after receiving this leadership interview report instruction as they gave me an opportunity to interview a person I have always held so dear in my heart. Pam Butt is my Auntie and I have always seen her as a leaders having served as a teacher for the District of Chicago Public Schools and my mentor for a very long time. I strongly believe that my Auntie exemplifies leadership through her strong dedication to education as well as community service. It took me two hours to explore Butts leadership qualities using well-thought questions which helped me explore her role, leadership style as well as her impact on team and the community at large. I used the following questions to dig deep into Butts leadership approach and effectiveness: What inspired you to pursue leadership role in education? How do you ensure motivation and collaboration among your team? Do you face challenges as a leader and if so how do you address them? How do you maintain a balance between administrative duties and student success? Lastly, what principles of leadership guide your decision-making? I can define her reputation as a transformative leader within the district. She is a great woman well known for her potentials to implement innovative programs that helps improve student’s outcomes as well as her advocacy for equality in education. She has defined abilities to inspire her students and staffs as well as building community partnerships which clearly highlights her influential role. While responding to what inspired her to pursue leadership in education, I noted that she is not just a teacher but a servant that prioritize other people’s needs over her self-interest. She is a great leader. Initially, I viewed Butts as a strong advocate for educational reform. After the interview, I noted that she was more than what I thought as her responses revealed additional layers to her leadership potentials. She emphasized on emotional intelligence, conflict resolution and mentorship which displayed her commitment to personal as well as professional growth for her as a teacher and her entire team. Such strengths were well reflected in her response to what foster collaboration and motivation among her team citing that it is all about exercising empathy and servanthood to ensure that all feel valued in every situation. Her responses deepened my initial impression of Butts as not just an administrator but...
