Abstract

Instructor’s Name Mondelez international company manufactures chocolates, cookies, biscuits, gum, confectionery, and powdered beverages. According to (Paturkar) “A corporate-level strategy is an action taken to gain a competitive advantage by selecting and managing a mix of businesses competing in several industries or product markets.” Mondelez has undergone numerous acquisitions to increase its competitive advantage. It has embraced a strategy that makes it attain its goals faster and hedge against uncertainty Mondelez international has crafted many strategies for it to thrive by entering new markets and switching positions. In 2017 Mondelez retrenched its CEO Irene Rosenfeld, who had served since 2006 when the company was facing a slowdown in the merging markets and pressure from shareholder activists to increase margins. The CEO led the company through numerous acquisitions during her tenure. Mondelez has a long-term strategic vision and impresses its customers through excellent packaging that grabs attention, tests its products the right way, and responds to future trends. Mondelez can formulate an ideal corporate-level strategy through mergers and acquisitions, forming alliances, and improving governance mechanisms. These strategies can help them enter new markets, strategic decisions making, and strengthen their competitive advantage. Mergers and acquisitions help in preempting rivals and access to new markets. However, achieving a corporate strategy is influenced by barriers such as government regulations, inadequate raw materials, technology, and customer preference changes. Mondelez is an established and renowned company and needs an ideal corporate-level strategy to achieve its goals and objectives. Formulating an ideal corporate-level strategy requires corporate diversification strategies, harnessing the competitive advantage, understanding consumer behavior, and integration methods.
