Navigating International Business: Insights for MBA Students

Abstract

Week 1: Post Your Introduction Hello Class, My name is Janeth Demming and I am excited to be a part of this course. I am currently pursuing a Master’s in Business Administration and in the last couple of courses to receive my MBA. I completed my BA in May 2020 and have had several jobs in pursuit of one that interests me. My goal is to find a job and a career that I love doing and pursuing my MBA was part of my plan to find my way in corporate America. I find international business interesting in general since it involves organizations making decisions that have major implications of the stakeholders involved. In particular, entrepreneurship is the area that interests me the most since it offers markets with new products and services that could change people’s lives. Being an entrepreneur in an international business venture requires managers to conduct elaborate research for the target market and determine how their products match the needs of the consumers. Culture influences business and ethics since it defines the interaction between the organization and the local community in the target market. International business managers must establish the aspects of a new culture that will affect business approaches and how to prepare employees for the integration with the local communities. Culture has a significant influence on interpersonal interactions particularly in the corporate settings. Organizations should conduct research to determine the extent of cultural differences between their nationality and the target market. International business is a major part of life for any professional in the corporate sector. I expect to work with and interact with people from different cultural backgrounds during the course of my career and possibly have assignments outside the United States.
