In an organizational setting, the principle of incentives shows the relationship between the benefits employees receive from their workplace and their productivity (Asniwati, 2022). Companies are increasingly considering innovative ways to motivate their workforce through incentives and benefit from productivity, talent retention, and reduced costs of replacing workers. The principle of incentives shows how motivating employees through financial and non-financial programs yields benefits for the organization. As companies face a growing rate of losing talents to other firms and more employees quit, it has become more important or managers to consider ways to provide unique benefits to their workforce. The principle of incentives is based on the assumption that individuals are rational and that costs and benefits will affect employees’ behavior (Lovejoy et al., 2021). Organizations can offer positive incentives through rewards to promote a desired behavior or negative incentives through punishments to discourage behavior that lowers productivity.
