The AI experiment was an exercise to measure my capabilities in taking interviews and potential areas of improvement. I took an interview on Big Interview and the results showed that I was able to communicate clearly, offer relevant responses, and converse normally. Potential areas of improvement include offering more complete answers to achieve self-promotion and maintaining eye contact with the interviewer. Bourdage et al. (2020) found that impression management during interviews plays a major role in mitigating the effects of personality on self-promotion. Through practice using the AI tool, I found that I should improve my ability to promote my capabilities by utilizing the time available to answer each question. The result of the interview will inform my approach to improve my performance in interviews for job offers by promoting my capabilities to potential employers. The current paper describes the interview experience with an AI tool and uses a peer-reviewed journal article to analyze the results of the experiment. Explanation of the Experiment How candidates present themselves in an interview plays a major role in determining the impression they give the interviewer. I took an interview hosted by Big Interview as an experiment to examine how I would perform in a real interviewing experience. The tool offers users the opportunity to gauge their abilities to communicate well and leave a good impression with potential employers. The recording of the interview and the feedback will play a major role in highlighting potential areas of improvement in my interview skills. With technologies offering diverse resources to users, it is critical to see how the experience would change my approach to future opportunities of career development. During the interview, I was able to explore my abilities and potential weaknesses in undertaking interviews in a real-world scenario. The interview consisted of fourteen questions that I would expect from an employer searching for candidates for a position in the organization. With each question, the AI tool provided feedback on various parameters including the pace of speech, relevance of the response, use of filler words, the power of words, and the length of the response. It showed the effectiveness of the response in meeting the expectations of interviewers for an actual position in an organization. The goal of the experiment is to shed light on areas of improvement and personal growth in taking interviews and being an interviewer. In preparation for the interview, I allocated sufficient undistracted time to ensure I devoted all my attention to the experiment. I used my study room for the experiment since it is ideal and could ensure that I concentrated on the experience. In preparation, I wore my blue business suit that I would have on a real interview since I wanted the experiment to be as realistic as possible. Conducting the experiment will prepare me for future real-world experiences where presenting my skills to an organization could land me to a position in the company. Report With each question, the AI tool provided feedback and offered recommendations for taking interviews in future. While the experience and feedback differed among the questions, there were some notable trends and areas of improvement in future undertakings. In particular, I noted that the pace of my speech was natural and fell within the recommendations for taking interviews in organizations. Additionally, I was able to provide relevant answers for majority of the questions and integrate the key vocabularies in my response. Interviewers expect that candidates will have knowledge on the positions they seek in organizations. To demonstrate such abilities, it is critical to show that one understands the expectations of the interviewer when they ask questions on the position of interest. A key area of strength from the result is the pause counter that showed the ability to speak clearly and naturally in a conversational manner. The results of the experiment showed that I was authentic in responding to the interview questions and would perform well in this area. A notable aspect about the results of the interview was that I spoke clearly enough for the interviewer to understand the answers for the questions. While there were numerous areas of strength in the experiment, the results showed key areas of improvement that would make me a better interviewee in the future. The length of the answer for each question is critical since it showed the ability to provide sufficient information to market one’s capabilities.
