Virtualization Post What are hypervisors? The simplest definition one can give for hypervisors is that they are virtual machine monitors (VMM). However, it is essential to elaborate on the extent to which hypervisors serve as virtual machine monitor. To this effect, one can argue that hypervisors serve as software that creates and also runs virtual machines in that it allows a host computer to support multiple virtual machines. Hypervisors shares resources like memory and processing from the host computer to enable it to support other guest virtual machines. For this reason, hypervisors are the program used to run and manage a single or more virtual machines on a computer through prefixing one's input with a specific character to enhance the command. What are the Specific Types of Virtualizations? There are various types of virtualization like: Network Virtualization: The primary role of this type of virtualization is taking the available resources on a given network and breaking the bandwidth into discrete channels. Storage Virtualization: This virtualization groups the physical storage devices together and presents them as a single storage array. It is mainly used when planning for disaster recovery since the data stored in a virtual array can be replicated and transferred to any other location using synchronous. Desktop Virtualization: It allows the virtual desktop operating system to run on a physical server alongside any other virtual desktop. It is the type of virtualization that is easily accessible since it is stored in a remote server that allows users to access their desktops from any location or device. Application Virtualization: In this type of virtualization, apps are virtualized and hosted on a server that allows delivery of the app functionality to an end user's device.
