Abstract

BMGT Week Three: Building Trust Lack of communication and dishonesty serves as the major contributor of trust issues amongst people (Week 3 Readings 2021). It is quite unfortunate that in most organizations, trust issues may lead workers to losing their morale which hinders their potential to perform. Based on the first scenario one can confirm that poor/lack of communication has not only hampered workers production at easy Chair but has also left workers losing the meaning of their attachment with the organization. It is clear that lack of trust between Jessie and the workers becomes fostered by lack of communication. Jessie does not talk straight while communicating his instructions/expectations to the workers. For instance due to un-clear communication, Sally ends up feeling cheated upon realizing that her work would sooner be taken by a robot regardless of her long engagement with the organization. In such a scenario, dishonesty becomes well defined which hinders her potentials to work as she no longer trust Jessie. Jessie on the other hand feels that Sally among other production workers should be replaced with machines for quicker realization of the set targets to be realized. Unfortunately Jessie does not seem to understand how best to communicate such a change without making these production workers feel worthless. To this effect, low production, low morale increased turnover to mention but a few serves as the major outcomes of trust issues experienced at Easy Chair which is a huge blow for this organization which may hamper its potentials to shine in the global markets. Lack of communication and dishonesty serves as the major contributors of the trust issues between Jessie and Easy Chair workers which can be remedied through effective communication amongst both parties. Since communication is a two way exercise, Jessie as a leader must express his competency through engaging in a conversation to air his views and listen to the workers view regarding his ideas/anticipations. To regain and enhance the lost workers morale, Jessie should learn to appreciate workers effort and give credit where it deserves (Week 3 Readings 2021). Though change is always important in boosting performance of an organization, Jessie should understand the negative effect change has to the organization if not communicated right which in most cases results to strong resistance from workers. Exercising honesty is another way through which Jessie can resolve the issue at easy Chair. By honesty, Jessie must communicate his idea of robot introduction clearly to the workers and define the merits associated with such a change to the organization and the workers in general. With such clarities, workers can express a positive attitude towards robot introduction and maintain defined trust for their supervisor. Setting clear goals and communicating to the workers in a clear manner is another way through which Jessie can resolve the issues at hand. Though Jessie has a great vision for Easy Chair production in future upon introduction of change on the current mode of production, workers do not understand his intentions as he has not communicated them clearly. For this reason, workers remain confused on what best for them which lead them to losing their value to the organization. Finally, honesty is a virtue worth a trial for Jessie since he is a leader (Covey, (n.d.). Jessie must remain honest to the workers so as to regain honesty back from them. By honesty, Jessie should be sure on what to communicate to workers, when to communicate it and for what reason.
