When two or more people communicate, they exchange information, feelings and meanings of many things making life worthwhile. To this effect, one can conclude that interpersonal communication is very important as it helps in building and maintaining relationships, expressing emotions as well as sharing thoughts, ideas and resolving conflicts. The key elements of interpersonal communication include verbal communication, non-verbal communication, listening, feedback, empathy, and conflict resolution making this type of communication a strong pillar of healthy relationships and social interactions. There are quite a few close relationships that interests me ranging from parent-to-child relationship, sibling relationship to romantic relationships which demands application of interpersonal communication for efficiency. In this essay, I will explore the interpersonal communication dynamics within the context of a romantic relationship. Application of Interpersonal Communication in a Romantic Relationship A romantic relationship proves a close interpersonal bond between two individuals always characterized by mutual attractions, affection, intimacy, and commitment (Lantagne & Furman, 2017). It is a type of a relationship that defines a very sensitive stage in life as it brings together two grown-ups whose differences ranging from childhood background, likes, interest and understanding proves too loud to ignore. In such a context, the need for defined interpersonal communication potentials proves essential to enhance the physical, emotional, and sexual connections between the partners.
