Abstract
There are various parts in Chapter 2 of "Applied Psychology in Talent Management" that focus on equal opportunity in the workplace. One such piece that can be cited is the discussion of "Legal and Ethical Issues in Talent Management." This section frequently discusses the value of abiding by federal and state fair employment rules, which are designed to stop discriminatory acts and guarantee equal opportunity for everyone. As the HR director at ACME Financial Services, I would stress the part that focuses on legal and ethical considerations in my response to the CEO. I would clarify that discriminatory hiring practices based on protected factors such as race, age, or gender are illegal under federal and state law. The CEO's request to hire solely Asian guys between the ages of 35 and 50 is in violation of these statutes. In addition, I would stress the need of diversity and inclusion in talent management. ACME Financial Services may benefit from a larger range of viewpoints, ideas, and experiences by encouraging a diverse workforce, which leads to innovation and a better knowledge of their diversified clients. I would clarify that excluding other eligible persons because of their gender, age, or race could result in legal ramifications, harm the company's reputation, and impede the organization's progress. To back up my argument, I'd give an example of how exclusion from a fair employment practice does not violate federal or state fair employment regulations. For example, if ACME Financial Services is searching for a position that requires unique language skills or cultural understanding to cater to a certain customer base, those qualities should be included as job-related requirements. However, rather than making decisions based entirely on a candidate's gender, age, or ethnicity, the emphasis should remain on evaluating individuals based on their abilities and qualifications.
