Abstract

BMGT Week 7: Adaptability (Rough Draft) Plan to Implement Policy Change at Easy Chair Implementing change in a business proves to be among the most challenging experiences that managers encounter in an organization (Week 7 Reading, 2021). Therefore, implementing policy change at Easy Chair requires managers' hard work, sensitivity, and patience to enhance it accordingly. Interestingly, Easy Chair deals with disabled employees. Unfortunately, such a workforce adds up to the complexities of introducing any policy change in their usual ways of engaging and handling tasks. However, with proper consideration of policy change implementations steps, introducing a new normal to the Easy Chair workforce can become practical. It is imperative to acknowledge that policy change comes with defined remedies for the noted problem, explaining the need for policy change implementation at Easy Chair. The first step is defined as preparations for the changing policy. Since changing a policy and implementing it is among the most challenging tasks a manager can engage in, the need to conduct thorough research to understand its impacts on employees and its benefits to the organization as a whole is essential (Kotter, 2015). In this step, the manager must be able to determine the necessities of the policy. Unlike dealing with local employees, diversifying a business calls for some changes, which to start with might annoy the organization workforce or even face tremendous resistance. Still, in future, the positive impact of the introduced change speaks louder for its necessities. To this effect, preparation for the change will allow for a defined analysis of the newly introduced policy's possible impacts concerning solving the noted workforce problem. On the other hand, with defined research on the likes and dislikes of the current workforce, the manager will understand which group of employees is for and which is against the anticipated change (Week 7 Reading, 2021). Such knowledge allows for establishing the most effective ways of handling each group to allow for a successful policy change implementation process. The second step is careful planning, which clarifies the changing policy goals (Gleeson, 2014). The best question a manager should ask him/herself at this step is how exactly working conditions will change, or productivity improve upon implementing the anticipated change at easy Chair? In this step, a manager should express defined potentials in stating long-term goals in his/her mind before making any official write-ups of the anticipated policy change. Also, with strategic planning involved in this step, a manager must consider the entire workforce that will be affected by the anticipated change and assess the expected benefits for the affected groups if the change succeeds. For such reason, the manager may choose to reconsider some of the proposed ideas within his/her mind and enforce alternatives if they prove more meaningful to the entire process. Though a step that proves challenging and tiring, if appropriately implemented, pays enormous dividends in the long run. The third step involves gathering information and sample policies to enhance the implementation of the anticipated policy changes. In this step, the policy implementer must find all the relevant information that can enhance the implementation process and note the changes that the recent changes might bring to the organization and the workforce (Kotter, 2015). In this step, personal contacts with those who can influence the changes in any way prove essential. Easy Chair has expressed great interest in a particular category of employees. Adjusting such a tradition only calls for the collaboration of the teams as their approval for the expected change means a lot in its success. The workforce needs to remain engaged and be aware of the need for adjustments in the organizations' apparent policy for their good and Easy Chair's success in the global markets. The manager must remain flexible and ready to learn from others' experience to ensure that the anticipated policy puts into consideration the best of the best options to address the noted problem at easy Chair. Communication as a two-way practice remains as the potential drive that enhances success in this step (Week 7...
