However, in the corn syrup treatment, we notice a 31.25% decrease in the weight of the egg. This means that the molecules diffused from the egg into the corn syrup. Corn syrup treatment is a hypertonic solution because the solute concentration outside the egg is higher than that inside the egg which causes cells to leave the egg making it shrink.
