Abstract

The most likely diagnosis of the 32-Year-old is deep venous thrombosis (DVT). The signs and symptoms of DVT are swelling of the affected area in the leg, leg pain, redness of the skin leg, and a feeling of warmth in the affected area. The patient exhibits these signs alleging that she has DVT. DVT is a serious life-threatening condition (Endig et al., 2016). Diagnosing DVT requires an informed judgment from a nurse. The type of nursing diagnosis employed in this situation is a problem-focused nursing diagnosis following acute pain on the leg. Problem-focused diagnosis is done based on the patient's signs and symptoms and is presented by the patient during the nursing assessment. The diagnostic process involves analyzing data, identifying health problems, risks, and strengths, and formulating diagnostic statements. The patient has signs and symptoms, making the problem focus diagnosis suitable. This type of nursing diagnosis entails decreased cardiac output and impaired gas exchange. DVT is treated through thrombolysis (thrombolytic therapy). The process involves administering of drug that bursts clots through the peripheral intravenous line with close examination and monitoring. According to (Saha et al. 2016), traditional anticoagulation and compression hosiery remain the cornerstone of DVT treatment. The drug commonly used for thrombolysis is a tissue plasminogen activator that prevents blood clotting and improves blood flow.
