Abstract
Instructor’s Name Covid 19 pandemic has hit the globe in a milestone, and its impacts are adverse and severe. The disease has caused social, economic, and emotional problems leading to the shutdown of various economies due to the demands of the pandemic. Fortunately, it is exciting that vaccines have been discovered and developed to curb this pandemic. The various types of vaccines include; BioNTech, Pfizer vaccine, Johnson & Johnson vaccine, Moderna vaccine, Oxford, AstraZeneca vaccine, and Sinopharm BBIBP vaccine. Almost all countries have embraced vaccination policy measures, and this process is ongoing. However, vaccine development myths and misconceptions are massive, making individuals relent to vaccination. According to (Mannan et al., 2020), vaccine hesitancy plays a significant role in decreasing vaccination rates, marked by the World Health Organization as among the top ten global threats to public health. Misinformation is challenging to handle, especially in the public domain, where building trust is difficult. This essay will discuss the various types of Covid 19 misinformation, its causes, and its effects. MisInformation has been linked to education levels, and illiteracy levels have enhanced false information about vaccines. There is a general conspiracy that the pandemic is a hoax, especially for those who have not felt the impacts. Lack of knowledge is limiting the execution of the vaccine. According to (Hossain et al., 2021), research of vaccine misinformation in Bangladesh concluded that females below 40 years of age are uneducated, depicting a higher hesitancy to vaccination. The illiterate are prone to buy cheap politics of vaccination that are not true, and it becomes difficult to convince them. Being female, low income, lack of university education, and living in rural areas is attributed to illiteracy hence susceptibility to misinformation. Noncompliance to Covid 19 rules on social distancing, masking, and vaccination is misinformation. False information alludes that the pandemic is a hoax and Covid 19 policy measures are baseless. Fear and stigma contribute to misinformation. People fear that they may receive lethal injections. According to (Sprent & King 2021), side effects of the Covid 19 vaccine include; fever, fatigue, headache, muscle pain, chills, diarrhoea and pain at the injection site. These effects vary with the type of Covid 19 vaccine. Spreading erroneous information on the side effects of the vaccine is evident. Like any other vaccine, such as the measles vaccine, Covid 19 vaccines have side effects. The most common form of vaccine misinformation is online dissemination entailing social media platforms. There is a continuous hot debate online, and various myths take a course in defending the validity of the vaccine. The public feels that the authorities are trying to conceal the truth, alluding that the vaccine was developed quickly, making it unsafe.
