Abstract
[Name] MTH 102 Data Visualization Activities Assignment Overview: For this assignment, you will work with sample data. You will create two types of diagrams to tell a story of how the data is distributed: (1.) a stem-and-leaf plot and (2.) a histogram. You will create these diagrams by hand. You may do this by directly writing in this document with a stylus or printing these pages out and writing directly on them. If you choose to print the assignment, take a picture and upload your work for this assignment. Data Weβre Using: Part 1: Visualizing Data with a Stem-and-Leaf Plot Using your stem-and-leaf plot, identify the range of the data: 43-98 98-43=55 Part 2: Visualizing Data with a Histogram Complete the following questions to create a histogram representing this data. You may choose 10 bins or as many as you like. Part 2a: Create a Grouped Frequency Table Indicate the number of bins youβve chosen to use for your histogram: 6 bins Given the number of bins you chose, how wide should your intervals be? Show your calculations here: 6 55/6=9.17 Fill out the following table to indicate your midpoints and intervals, which will help you draw your bins. When creating the bins, you may use interval notation. Check out this video for a review of interval notation. Part 2b: Visualizing Data with a Histogram Use the table above to create your histogram. Label each axis. Indicate your intervals below each bin of the histogram and make each bin two squares wide. You may use the graph paper on the next page or provide your own. Part 3: Analysis & Reflection Does the graph appear skewed? Is it unimodal, bimodal, or neither? Justify your answers. When making histograms, we can choose how many bins weβd like to use. The goal...
