Abd-Al-Rahman Case The Prosecutor v. Ali Muhammad Ali Abd-Al-Rahman ("Ali Kushayb") ICC-02/05-01/20 1. A. Case: Abd-Al- Rahman B. Defendant: Ali Muhammad Ali Abd-Al-Rahman C. Charges: Suspected of 31 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity allegedly committed between August 2003 and April 2004 in Darfur, Sudan.  D. Current Status: Pre-Trial Chamber II confirmed all charges of war crimes and a crime against humanity brought against Ali Muhammad Abd-Al-Rahman and committed him to trial. Trial Chamber I scheduled the opening of the trial against Abd-Al-Rahman on 8th September 2021 for 5th April 2022. 2. What the defendant did and why charged at ICC According to the prosecutions’ submission of the document containing the charges, the defendant: Was a senior leader of militia/janjaweed in the Wadi Salih and Mukjar Localities, West Darfur State between at least August 2003 and at least April 2004, Abd-Al-Rahman is suspected of 31 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity allegedly committed between August 2003 and at least April 2004 in Darfur, Sudan, when he was the leader of Militia in the same state.
