Abstract

Discipline or Subdiscipline Insight of Author Cybersecurity “People with the bright innovative ideas are not educated in cyber security, neither are many of the programmers who implement their ideas. They neglect the old threats which provide attack paths to cyber criminals.” (Akhgar, Bosco, and Stainforth, 2014) “…it is crucial and imperative for researchers and practitioners of wireless networks to understand the entire cyber attack and crime spectrum on wireless networks and applications and explore new technologies to mitigate and thwart these attacks, as well as to monitor, capture, and analyze security attacks via forensics analysis.” (Xu, Kutyłowski, Cheng, Zhu, 2015) Criminology/Criminal Justice “…few studies have been done on cyber-crime victims, their overall treatment by the criminal justice machinery, and the impact of cyber-crime victims on society as a whole.” (Halder, 2021) “Structural and cultural limitations upon traditional policing agencies have resulted in a security deficit in the online world (Nhan and Huey, 2008). This security deficit means that many crimes occurring online go unreported or are ignored by law enforcement.” (Nhan and Huey, 2008) Foreign Affairs “We are guided by the division between what we call cyber hype and threat inflation, on the one hand, and the empirical realities of cyber interactions as they actually occur in the international system, on the other. These divisions are important because they represent the two dominating perspectives in the cyber security debate.” (Valeriano, Maness, 2015) Psychology “…the human factor remains security’s weakest link in cyberspace. Psychology, through its insight into human nature, has a crucial role to play in mitigating this risk.” (Wiederhold, 2014)
