Abstract
Understanding Inequality through Covid-19 Lens Covid-19 is among the worst pandemics ever experienced along with the globe. A current event has taught the human race great lessons about inequality, allowing many to understand and feel inequality from a better real-life point of view. To be precise, corona virus has brought about inequalities in many areas ranging from healthcare to technology (Okonkwo et al., 2021). Unfortunately, these inequalities remain felt along various disturbing lines ranging from ethnicity to income. Life has become miserable for many. Not because the impact of the pandemic remains un-felt across all humans across the globe but rather the inequalities that are worsening such impacts on specific individuals based on the status quo, race, and ethnicity, among other differentiating factors. Minority groups and people with disabilities serve as the most hit by inequalities as they face multiple barriers in access to essential services in response to the corona virus. Healthcare is a fundamental right for all regardless of race, color, ethnicity, or gender. However, access to good healthcare in America proves a challenge as the costs of accessing good healthcare prove too much for all to enjoy. The medical insurance covers are not accessible to all who deserve them in this great nation due to inequalities and discrimination based on race, gender, ethnicity, and other factors. The current pandemic is no different as it defines significant inequalities in response to ensuring equitable healthcare for all in the fight against the killer virus (Okonkwo et al., 2021). The lowest income quintiles, the minorities, the disabled, and the less knowledgeable prove the most disadvantaged groups in terms of adequate access to healthcare in response to the current pandemic. Inequality remains defined along with gender, race, and residence status. The rich continue to enjoy health access and outcomes in response to the poor within America which hampers success in the fight against the current covid-19 pandemic. Women and migrants suffer a massive blow regarding health access and outcomes as inferior to other genders and citizens within America. Other than inequalities in healthcare access and outcome, access to technology and the internet has also highlighted a significant gap amongst Americans ever since the pandemic's beginning.
