[Name] The author of the article focuses on the happenings of citizens in early America and the efforts made to bring equilibrium to the nation. The article highlights the rampant corruption in the early days and the efforts to bring sanity to the American nation. These changes are the ones the author, in other words, is calling the gilded age. The Gilded age, is a formula that Mark Twain came up with to bring sanity to the corrupt nation through humor and satire. Regarding the early Americans' happenings, dating back from the civilization, slavery, and the early wars, it is clear that the author is justified in the claims that enough has not been done. Instead of addressing corruption and rogue deals, those in power have modified ways to do vices digitally in a manner that looks smart and convincing. That is what the author describes as the modern gilded age and not the intended one. The intentions were that citizens' will and wishes would be respected, but the country has come up with systems to suit only those in power in the real sense. In the examples given, it is evident that the author expected some greater public outrage over some of what the author called transparent compromise. For this reason, the author has keenly observed that Americans have outgrown the tensions that may be brought about by political divisions and tensions. In most cases, political aspirators may tend to break and divide the citizens by creating rules like the laissez-faire and looking at the history of it. It has brought more harm than good.
