It should also be my obligation to know how to manage and control risks involved in the contractual work besides ensuring that the contractor strictly follows the prepared safe work methods statement. It is also vital to check the contractor's credibility regarding qualifications, licenses, and authorizations. What should be provided for them by law? The law should provide health and safety legislation that permits concurrent duties. First, they need to check the documents' authenticity that they may provide by doing a background check on them. I must find out about past jobs and if need be contact the references provided. To certify the authenticity of qualifications, I might be obliged to ask the contractor to perform an oral interview about the safety precautions and access the types of machinery they intend to use. I would require evidence regarding the history of medical treatments, operational safety, and workers' compensations.
