Abstract
Final Project Management Plan [Name] [University] BUS633: Project & Operations Management (FTJ2427B) [Instructor Name] July 22nd, 2024 Final Project Management Plan An elaborate project management plan informs the stakeholders on the capacity of the project manager to complete the tasks within the allocated time limits. The current project will involve a year of identifying and correcting the issues with the recently acquired ILS facility in Australia. The project management plan demonstrates the leadership approach for the project and how it matches the goals and the cultural background of the location. A democratic approach to leadership promotes the participation of employees in the project and aligns with the workplace culture for the Australian people (Salhieh & Alswaer, 2022). Identifying the capabilities of the members of the project team will facilitate the allocation of human resources to various tasks. Key areas of improvement in the project implementation process will involve the identification and early response to risk factors. The project manager recognizes that the project is bound to experience risks and the plan includes measures to identify, assess, and mitigate their effects on the project. The current paper describes the project management plan that describes the measures to identify and respond to potential challenges in the project while maximizing the positive outcomes for ILS and its clients. Leadership Approach Resolving the issues in the new warehouse will involve the contribution of various teams and stakeholders working together to achieve ILS’s objectives for the facility. It is important for members of the various teams to participate respectively towards the completion of the project. Using a democratic leadership approach will promote communication among the teams working on the project and improve employees’ satisfaction. While the project has a limited budget and timeline, it is important to accommodate the contributions of the stakeholders on areas of improvement during the implementation process. I will use democratic leadership since it encourages the members of various teams to communicate and share their views on ways to perform their tasks effectively (Salhieh & Alswaer, 2022). Democratic leadership is ideal for the project since it aligns with the Australian work culture and the western values of participation in the workplace. Employees are likely to be more productive if they can trust their leaders to communicate timely and effectively on potential changes during the project. Developing a motivated and productive team demands efforts to accommodate the views and experiences of the team members on potential changes during the project. Allocation of Human Resources The leader’s allocation of human resources has significant implications on productivity and the performance of the employees during the project. Individuals involved in the project will work towards the main goal of resolving issues in equipment, reducing accidents, reorganization of the warehouse, and employee training (Chow et al., 2021). The allocation of staff based on their training and qualifications will increase the effectiveness of individual teams during the project’s timeline. Identifying the capabilities of the individual members of the team will inform the plans to allocate the employees to new groups to facilitate the project’s completion (Crawford, 2021). A key advantage of the allocation process is that it reduces the cost of labor by assigning the most capable individuals to complete the tasks in the workplace. Additionally, hiring and allocating employees based on their training will reduce the risk of errors and accidents occurring during the project’s lifetime. I will hire and allocate employees based on the tasks at hand and their qualifications in various fields. The project will take place in phases and this will affect how individuals are able to work at the same time at the facility. Employees will have to wait until their tasks can be completed while other members of the project team work at the facility. Limiting the contribution of the project team members based on their abilities has the potential to stall some areas of the project. Since only the most qualified personnel will complete individual tasks in the project, there is a potential for some employees to be unoccupied while other members of the team work on the project (Salhieh & Alswaer, 2022). The majority of the workers in the project will be conducting the assessment of the equipment and making the necessary replacements. Additionally, the energy consumption task will require a significant allocation of human resources to achieve completion within the limited timeline. Allocating project team members based on staffing requirements for each task will increase efficiency but will limit the number of workers at the facility at a particular phase of the project. Improving Operations Improving operations will ensure that the project team reduces the risks of excessive expenditure and potential failures during the project. As the project manager, I will work with team leaders during the project to identify and rectify potential areas of failures for the project. Effective communication channels will make it easier to identify barriers in the completion of the project on time and make the necessary adjustments. Anticipating potential pitfalls requires allocation of budgetary and time flexibility for the project (Chow et al., 2021). I intend to communicate with the project team to identify areas where changes are necessary to meet the deadlines for the organization. One of my responsibilities as the project manager is to ensure effectiveness and limit the effects of the project on the planet. I will reduce waste by making plans in advance to determine measures to manage costs for the project. Recruiting a capable project team will ensure that the people working in the facility contribute to improving efficiency in line with ILS values. A safe work environment is an important factor affecting the outcomes of projects. All the people working at the facility during the life time of the project will receive adequate training on safety and protection equipment to reduce the risk of accidents. As the project manager, I will inform the staff that the facility poses a higher risk of safety incidents during the renovation...
