Abstract

Write-up 3 Mass Shooting [Name] Columbine High School massacre is a mass shooting that happened on 20th April 1999 in [City, State], USA. The school is located in Columbine, a suburb of [City, State], in the United States. The perpetrators of this mass shooting were two senior students, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold. Both arrived at Columbine High School armed with firearms, explosives, and homemade bombs. As soon as they entered the school, they began shooting at students and faculty indiscriminately. It was a serious attack that lasted for approximately 49 minutes, during which they killed 12 students and 1 teacher, and injured 21 others. Harris and Klebold also planted propane bombs in the cafeteria, which failed to detonate as intended. Leading up to the attack, Harris and Klebold had been planning the massacre for several months (Springhall,1999). Basically, this is among the major shooting whose perpetrators urge to shoot was highly triggered by violent video games. The two were heavily influenced by violent video games, particularly Doom, and had a history of making disturbing videos and writing about their hatred for others (Springhall, 1999). Such an attitude triggered them to exercise what they saw on those games leading to huge damages. The primary targets of the attack were mainly students and faculty members of Columbine High School. The shooters seemed to have targeted individuals they knew and those they perceived as bullies or enemies, although the attack was largely indiscriminate once it began. Such an assumption is based on the fact that the two had previously made videos and some writing declaring their hatred for others thus aimed at eliminating those they hated.
