Abstract

Module 6 Discussion: Careers in Criminology [Name] I feel interested in probation officer profession because it is an area that gives a person an opportunity to investigate report on and supervise the conduct of a convicted offender or those released under parole. During engagements with the convicted offenders, the officer can be able to enhance reformation/rehabilitation of these criminals through friendly approaches that makes such offenders find the sense of exercising and maintaining peace within them and the circles revolving them. It is jobs that can enable an officer ensure positive impact to offenders which are among my major passions. In order to become a probation officer one must possess a Bachelor degree in any of the following disciplines: Criminal justice, Sociology, Social Work, Guidance and Counselling, Criminology, Social Psychology or an equivalent in a related field from a recognized University. There are other relevant requirements like several years of experience, sound mind, good communication skills, and a valid driving licence among other basics. Homicide Detective Unlike profilers that deal with complicated crime scene analysis to compile a justifiable criminal profiling document, a prison wardens exercise their correctional approaches at the disposal of their working stations. A prison warden is a very important officer that spends most of their time with crime offender administering their duties through creation of schedules, managing budgets and setting policies to promote safety within prisons. Just like the probation officer, close relationship with offenders can offer a prison warden a great opportunity to enhance a positive change in such offender and make them see their values and the need to abandon their crime habits and embrace good.
