Abstract
Week 2 Assignment: Data Management and Running Descriptive Statistics Week 2 Written Response Worksheet NAME: Instructions: Follow along with the step-by-step instruction manual provided for the Week 2 assignment on data management and running descriptive statistics. The instruction manual will make specific reference to data interpretation questions that require written responses. Use this worksheet to answer these written response questions. Each question is listed below along with the number of points each question is worth toward the assignment. Type your response in the space provided below each question. QUESTION 1 4 points Write a brief paragraph that summarizes the characteristics of the BMI data sample. Include the number of participants in our dataset that have available data on BMI, and describe the sex, age, and ethnicity of this group. QUESTION 2 1 point Out of the 95 participants that provided sleep responses, what was the number (frequency) and percentage (round to two decimal places) of participants that averaged 8 hours of sleep or more a night? QUESTION 3 4 points Report and interpret the descriptive statistics on the psychological health score measure. In your response, be sure to indicate if there were any extreme scores (outliers). Also, report the three measures of central tendency; the standard deviation; the range of values observed (i.e., report the maximum and minimum, not the range); and identify the shape of the distribution as positively skewed, negatively skewed, or roughly normally distributed. QUESTION 4 1 point You should have identified one outlier BMI score in our sample based on your review of z-scores and the boxplot. Identify the ID number and raw BMI score of the one outlier participant included in the sample. QUESTION 5 4 points When comparing the means, does there appear to be any differences in self-esteem scores between healthy weight, overweight, and obese individuals? If so, explain the nature of these differences (i.e., how does self-esteem appear to be different between the three weight status groups?).
