Abstract

Module 4.1 Assignment: The Legal Perspective Review the 10 amendments to illustrate the most important Amendment in your perspective that LEOs should adhere to trace the impact of past and current court cases on law enforcement procedures and police officers careers The ten Amendments have profound effects on human rights and protections against law enforcers thus enhancing accountability in law enforcement if followed (Douma, 2017, Pg, 2) First Amendment demands law enforcers to respect individual rights of expression and peaceful gathering. Such demand implies that his Amendment protects individual rights of speech, press, assembly, petitioning the government and the right to religion of choice without any interference of the law enforcers. The Second Amendment offer protections to bear arms as a form of personal security allowing most Americans to have firearms at their disposal without any restrictions from law enforcers. It is an Amendment that has serious impacts on law enforcers in regard to gun possession and use amongst Americans. The Third Amendment has little to no direct impact on law enforcement as it limits soldier quartering at private residential during normal peaceful times without home owners consent which is hard to happen. Based on the Fourth Amendment, citizens’ remains protected against unreasonable searches and seizure implying that law enforcers must obtain a warrant based on probable cause before enforcing these practices. On the Fifth Amendment citizens enjoy a number of protections and rights ranging from protection against double jeopardy, self-inclination and right to due process. It is an Amendment that aims for, ensures and enhances fair treatment and procedural rights for all persons during any criminal justice system process. The Sixth Amendment demands law enforcers to follow proper legal procedures during their investigations and prosecution processes while the seventh ensures protected rights to a jury trial in civil cases when...
