Adebayo et al. did their study on the most recent Covid 19 pandemic, an overwhelming pandemic that emanated from Wuhan, China spreading across 218 countries worldwide. The researchers based their study on Nigeria, and the prevalence of the pandemic in the country shows the poor adherence to the WHO guidelines and the NCDC. Nigeria has 36 states and one federal, which is the republic and the official language is English. The research examines how life orientation and social demographic factors played a role in the spread of the pandemic. It was conducted using an expo facto online survey with the design efficient in reaching a huge number of residents across the states of Nigeria without any manipulation. Nigeria has a population of over 200 million, and Respondent Driven Sampling Technique was used to obtain the seven hundred and ninety-eight residents. All were surveyed after obtaining their informed consent. Participants were adults of not less than 18 years.
The results showed a link between life orientation, sociodemographic factors, and Nigeria's adherence to COVID-19 preventive behaviors. The research alludes that the National Orientation Agency in Nigeria ought to take a step on imparting optimistic life orientation to Nigeria beginning in Childhood to act a future in preventing infectious diseases that may arise such as Covid 19. Optimistic respondents were found to adhere to the Covid 19 rules compared to the pessimistic respondents. Those with high levels of education, such as the post graduate, adhered to the rules more than the illiterate.
