IZOF 24th 03 22.edited 1
According to Robazza (2006), individual zones of optimal functioning (IZOF) prove an essential sport-specific framework model that enhances understanding of the relationship between emotional experience and individual success in sports. Basically, IZOF focus on the individual arousal, experience and overall performance rather than considerations of group-based patterns (Robazza, 2006). In sports, it is imperative to note that coaches and trainers acknowledge emotion as an inherent part of the competitive experience and may affect the victim's performance either positively or negatively. For the most prolonged period, anxiety has maintained a defined arousal effect on an athlete's performance. To this effect, an intermediate arousal level enhances optimum performance. However, low or high arousal levels that exceed moderate-intensity decrease performance (Robazza, 2006). Though anxiety and stress prove significant effects that determine performances in sports, the IZOF model extends its attention in determining an individual's performance through consideration of related emotional concepts like affect, mood and feeling states.
